Frequently Asked Questions
What about my newborn to preschool age children (birth to 4 years)?
Newborn to Preschool (Birth–4 Years)
Promiseland offers a safe, loving, and nurturing environment where your little ones are cared for and prayed over while you worship. Each nursery is age-appropriate and staffed by committed volunteers who share God’s love through gentle care, Bible stories, play, and plenty of attention.
We believe even our youngest children are forming relationships—with God and with others—and we want every child to feel known, loved, and secure.
Available during:
- Sunday Worship: 8:15, 9:30 & 11:00 a.m. Worship Services.
- Sunday School: 9:45 a.m.

What about my elementary age children? (pre-k to 5th grade)?
Elementary (Pre-K to 5th Grade)
Your kids will love PowerKidz Hour, a fun and meaningful environment designed just for them. It meets Sunday mornings from 9:45–10:45 am and begins with engaging large-group teaching using video and music, followed by age-appropriate small groups where kids connect and grow.
We also offer Children’s Church during the 11:00 am worship service, providing a kid-friendly worship experience that happens at the same time as our main gathering.

What about my middle school and high school age children?
Middle School & High School
Middle and high school students are invited to be part of our GrowGroup Bible Studies, where we use The Gospel Project by Lifeway to help students understand God’s story and how it applies to their lives.
Students are also encouraged to attend the Student Worship Service at 11:00 am in the SALT House (Lower Level)—a space designed just for them to grow in faith, community, and purpose.

What about the Adult Grow & Connection Groups?
Grow Groups
The GrowGroups meet on campus on Sunday Mornings from 9:45am to 10:45pm. We currently offer eight different topics for you consider. Grab a cup of fresh coffee and a donut at the Canopy Cafe and get growing. Contact Pastor Mark K for more information (410) 428 56 85
Life is meant to be experienced in relationship with Jesus and one another. At Friendship Baptist Church, our GrowGroups are weekly communities where adults connect, grow in faith, pray, and serve together.
Connection Groups
ConnectionGroups meet off-campus during the week at various times in homes throughout the surrounding community.
I want to get married. What do I do?
Here are the main steps to begin the process with Rev. Mark Massey:
- Contact the Church Office first (410) 442-5506 to request the wedding policy packet and start scheduling.
- Complete the Premarital Information Form (required). (Click the button to open the PDF packet and form.)
- Complete premarital counseling before making wedding plans (no arrangements or invitations until counseling is finished and reviewed).
- Maintain sexual purity: remain celibate and do not live together before the wedding. Rev. Massey will not perform a ceremony if the couple is living at the same address. If you are currently living together, you must move to separate addresses and remain celibate for consideration (James 3:1).
- Be faithfully involved in church: attend worship services and join a small group to grow in Christ and build a support system (Heb. 10:25).
- If either person has been divorced, remarriage is considered only under biblical guidelines and must be reviewed with Rev. Massey in advance. Rev. Massey will not participate if either the bride or groom has not been legally divorced for at least two (2) years.
- Know the expected wedding-day details and costs:
- Honorariums (paid at rehearsal): Massey $150 at FBC / $200 off-site (central MD); musicians/singers $50 each; sound tech $50. Checks payable to individuals.
- If held at FBC: Building Use Application required. Member fee $0; non-member $350; cleaning fee $150.
- Marriage license: Obtain in the county where the ceremony occurs (FBC is in Howard County).
- Photography/video: Couple provides; no flash during the ceremony.
- Wedding bulletin: FBC can help by copying and folding after the final version is provided.
- Sign the Premarital Covenant (pastor and couple) as part of the process.
For full details and next steps, please contact the Church Office. We’ll be glad to help you get started.
