"Suppose you died today and found yourself
standing at the gates of heaven and God
met you there and said, "Why should I let
you enter those gates into My heaven?"
What do you think you would say?
Read on and you can find
out the Bible's answer....
Steps to Peace with God
1. God's Purpose for Us?
Peace and Life
God loves you and wants you to experience peace and life
-- abundant and eternal.
The Bible says ...
"We have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ."
--Romans 5:1 (NIV)
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that
whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."
--John 3:16 (NIV)
"I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it
more abundantly." --John 10:10 (NIV)
Why don't most people have peace and the abundant life
God planned for us to have?
Our Sin Separates Us From God
God created us in His own image to have an abundant life.
He did not make us as robots to automatically love and obey Him.
God gave us a will and a freedom of choice.
We chose to disobey God and go our own willful way. This is sin.
We still make these choices today. Our sin results in separation from God.
The Bible says ...
"For all have sinned and fall short of the glorious standard of God."
It only takes one sin to make us guilty of every sin!
"For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point
is guilty of breaking all of it." -- James 2:10
"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life
in Christ Jesus our Lord." --Romans 6:23 (NIV)
Our Attempts to Reach God…
People have tried in many ways to bridge this gap between
themselves and God ...
Nothing human beings can do will build a bridge between
themselves and God.
Being involved in Christian ministry won't make you right with God.
*Judas Iscariot was involved in religious service but
those activities did not make him right with God.
Living a "good" life, participating in religious ceremonies, believing the
right things, going to church, giving money to good causes, doing good
deeds or having good morals won't erase the fact that we are sinners
and sin separates us from a relationship with God.
Sin not only separates us from a relationship with God, sin has
It often hurts us,
It often hurts other people, and
if unforgiven, sin will eternally separate us from God forever in hell.
The Bible says ...
"There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death."
--Proverbs 14:12 (NIV)
"But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have
hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear." --Isaiah 59:2 (NIV)
No bridge reaches God ... except one.
"God is on one side and all the people are on the other side and Christ
Jesus .... is between them to bring them together." --1 Timothy 2:5
Jesus Christ Paid For Your Sin
Jesus Christ died on the Cross and rose from the grave.
He paid the penalty for our sin and bridged the gap between God and people.
The Bible says …
"For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous,
to bring you to God." --1 Peter 3:18 (NIV)
"But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still
sinners, Christ died in our place." -- Romans 5:8
God has provided the only way.
Each person must make a choice.
Turn from Sin and Trust Jesus
The only way that Jesus' death on the cross can ever benefit
you is for you to realize how serious sin is and be sorry enough
about your sin to turn from a life of sin and trust Jesus to give you
When we fall out of love with sin and place out trust in Jesus Christ
we become children of God... forever!
The Bible says ...
"For the grace of God that brings salvation...teaches us to say,"No"
to ungodly living and selfish worldly passions..." -- Titus 2:11-12
"Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he
gave the right to become children of God." -- John 1:12 (NIV)
"That if you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your
heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved."
-- Romans 10:9 (NIV)
You Can Turn From Sin
and Trust Jesus Now!
Why Not Express the Following to Jesus in Prayer?
1. Admit your need (I am a sinner).
2. Be willing to turn from your sins (repent). Ask God to help you.
3. Believe that Jesus Christ died for you on the Cross and rose
from the grave.
4. Invite Jesus Christ to come in and control your life through
his Holy Spirit. (Receive Him as Lord and Savior.)
Prayer is a good way to express your repentance and trust in Jesus.
If the sample prayer below expresses the desire of your heart, why
not use it as a way to express your desire to follow Jesus?
CAUTION!!!! Don't put your trust in saying the words below. Use the
the prayer below to talk to Jesus. Your faith and trust must be in
Him not the fact that you said the words. Words don't save, Jesus
Dear Lord Jesus,
I know that I am a sinner and need Your forgiveness. I believe that
You died on the cross for my sins and that God raised you from the
dead. I want to turn from my sins. I now invite You to come into my
heart and life. I now place all my trust in you and what You did for Me
when you died on the cross and rose from the dead. From this day
forward, You are my Savior and I am Your follower.
In your name. Amen.
God's Assurance: His Word (Bible)
If you sincerely expressed your desire to Jesus to be your
Lord and Savior, He has promised to make you a child of God.
The Bible Says...
"Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."
--Romans 10:13 (NIV)
Did you sincerely ask Jesus Christ to come into your life?
What has He given you?... Salvation!
"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith -- and this
not from yourselves, it is the gift of God -- not by works, so that
no one can boast." -- Ephesians 2:8,9 (NIV)
By receiving Christ, we are born into God's family through the
supernatural work of the Holy Spirit who indwells every believer.
This is called regeneration, or the "new birth."
This is just the beginning of a wonderful
new life in Christ !
To deepen this relationship you should:
1. Read your Bible everyday to know Christ better.
2. Talk to God in prayer every day.
3. Tell others about Christ.
4. Worship, fellowship, and serve with other Christians in a
church where Christ is honored.
5. As Christ's representative in a needy world, demonstrate
your new life by your love and concern for others.
6. Identify yourself as a follower of Jesus by being baptized
(immersed in water).
"But when they believed Philip as he preached the good
news of the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ,
they were baptized, both men and women." -- Acts 8:12
